I introduction of tantalum capacitor.
Tantalum capacitor is made of rare metal tantalum, which is first ground into fine powder and then sintered together with other media. At present, there are two processes: dry powder molding and wet powder molding. Due to the inherent nature of tantalum, tantalum capacitor has the characteristics of good stability, no change with the change of environment, large capacitance and so on. In some aspects, it has some incomparable characteristics of ceramic capacitor, so tantalum capacitor is widely used in many circuits where ceramic capacitor cannot be used.
At present, there are mainly tantalum capacitors of the following brands: AVX, KEMET, VISHAY and NEC, among which AVX and VISHAY have large output and excellent quality. The following describes the specifications and selection parameters of the SMD tantalum capacitor by taking AVX SMD tantalum capacitor as an example:
1. Model representation method.

① indicates series, AVX has two series, TAJ and TPS, TAJ represents ordinary tantalum capacitor, TPS represents low impedance tantalum capacitor, and the DC resistance is less than 1 ohm, generally between 100 milliohms and 500 milliohms, especially as low as 40 milliohms.
② Indicates the size of tantalum capacitor, which has six sizes: A, B, C, D, E, Y and V.
③ indicates the capacity of the capacitor, ranging from 0.1UF----1000UF.
④ Indicates the capacity error. There are two kinds of capacity errors of tantalum capacitor: one is 10% (k) and 20% (m).
⑤ Indicates the withstand voltage of capacitor, which refers to the rated DC voltage at 85℃. The withstand voltage range of tantalum capacitor is from 4V to 50V.
⑥ indicates the packing method. There are two packing methods, 7-inch tray and 13-inch tray.
