Recently, onsemi announced that it has completed its investment in SWIR Vision Systems ® The acquisition is one of its ongoing efforts to provide powerful and cutting-edge intelligent image perception technologies. SWIR Vision Systems is a colloidal quantum dot (CQD) ®) A leading supplier of Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) technology, which expands the spectral range of detectable light, allowing for the perspective of objects and capturing images that were previously unavailable. Ansemy will integrate this patented technology into its industry-leading CMOS sensors, significantly enhancing the company's intelligent perception product portfolio and paving the way for further development in key markets such as industry and automotive.

CQD uses nanoparticles or crystals with unique optical and electronic properties that can be precisely adjusted to absorb light over a wider range of wavelengths. This technology extends the visibility and detection range of the system from standard CMOS sensor wavelengths to SWIR wavelengths. So far, the application of SWIR technology has been limited due to the high cost and manufacturing complexity of traditional gallium indium arsenide (InGAas) processes.
