electrolytic capacitor Agent Brand Series

Electrolytic capacitors are capacitors that use an oxide film made of aluminum, tantalum or other oxidizable metals as the dielectric. Due to their potential for large capacitors, this type of capacitor is widely used in power circuits and similar applications. There are two broad categories, using water-based (wet) electrolytes or solid electrolytes. These categories can be further broken down as shown below. Electrolytic capacitors are usually polar, but there are also non-polar types.

The basic construction principle of electrolytic capacitor, from the formula can be seen, the larger the electrode surface area, the smaller the electrode gap distance, the higher the capacitance of the capacitor.

Multilayer ceramic capacitors and thin film capacitors use sheet dielectrics, and the dielectrics in aluminum electrolytic capacitors are oxide layers formed on the metal surface by electrochemical surface treatment. The surface of the electrode foil is roughened by an etching process to increase the effective surface area, thereby increasing the capacitance.

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are capacitors that use aluminum oxide film as a dielectric, and the method of forming an oxide layer by electrochemical surface treatment was developed at the end of the 19th century, and the predecessor of today's aluminum electrolytic capacitors appeared as products in the early 20th century. These capacitors are characterized by high capacitance and are now widely used in smoothing and decoupling applications. Wet forms using electrolytes are the most common, but there are also products using organic semiconductor materials. From the structural principle, capacitors have radial lead and axial lead, SMD (surface mount device) type, screw terminal type and so on.
