1、 Appearance feature method

1 Observation method: By visually observing the external dimensions, colors, markings, and other information of the SMT resistor, combined with experience, make a preliminary judgment. But this method is greatly affected by visual errors and has lower accuracy

2 Comparison method: Compare the resistance of the patch to be identified with other known resistance values, and make judgments based on their external dimensions, colors, and other characteristics. But this method requires sufficient standard resistance as a reference, and the operation is relatively cumbersome

2、 Measurement method

1 Multimeter method: Use a digital multimeter to measure the resistance of the patch and directly read its resistance value. This is a simple and fast method that is suitable for most situations. However, it should be noted that due to the small resistance value of the SMT resistor, it may be necessary to lower the measurement level or choose an appropriate range

2 RLC network method: Using RLC network theorem (i.e. complex impedance formula) to analyze and calculate the resistance of SMT, and thus obtain its resistance value. In theory, this method can accurately measure the resistance of any size of SMT, but in practical operation, it requires a high mathematical foundation and computational ability

3、 Oscilloscope method

By conducting oscilloscope measurements of the voltage or current at both ends of the SMT resistor, combined with corresponding signal processing techniques, its resistance value can be calculated. This method is suitable for complex circuit environments, such as those containing noise, harmonics, and other issues. However, it should be noted that the measurement error of the oscilloscope can also affect the accuracy of the final result

4、 Automatic detection equipment method

Automatic testing equipment widely used in modern electronic product production, such as AOI optical testing systems, can scan and identify the appearance and size of surface mount resistors, and automatically calculate their resistance values. This method has the characteristics of high efficiency and accuracy, but the equipment cost is relatively high
